and when i raised my eyes a little higher, i saw human wishes. i saw moons blessed with the deepening moan of night. i saw winds that traveled across thousands of miles of mothers who were silent now and draped over their flashlights. i saw lands going back to sleep and doors opening both ways. i saw escape buttons pressed into bodies stacked behind your dinner party. i saw sunlit sidewalks. i saw no sign of decaying bags anywhere. i saw signs of decaying bags everywhere. i saw birds that loved your hair through another blurry summer. i saw deserts refusing responsibility at all costs. i saw children who got out of the way just in time and children who never got out. i saw, or i saw that i saw.
