Matthew Carter (born October 1, 1937) is a type designer and the son of the English typographer Harry Carter.
He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Matthew designed the classic web fonts Verdana and Georgia, as well as other designs including Bell Centennial, Miller and Tahoma. In 2010, he was named a MacArthur Fellow.
