ORDINARY

She was ordinary
sitting in a flight
to somewhere

Clear face,
unadorned by make-up
shoulders modestly covered

She leaned forward
for her purse
revealing a bare waist

planted on a curved
bottom, covered
with a strap

in the shape of a V
a symphony
of simplicity and form

Underneath the exterior modesty
was the true self she inhabited
and was fully alive in
